DON JOAQUÍN PORTOLÉS LAX, founder of the current Portolés Group of Companies, began his entrepreneurial activities in summer 1960, with a small business in the town of Fraga (Huesca, Spain) dealing with agricultural machinery sales. In 1962, he transferred his business to the city of Lleida, extending it to sales of all kinds of agricultural machinery and opening what, with the passage of time, would become one of the largest reference centres for agriculture in the city.
Since 1961, Mr Portolés and his companies have consistently taken part in the Sant Josep (Mollerussa) and Sant Miquel (Lleida) agricultural shows, as well as other similar regional and national events.
In 1980, he started to deal with the distribution of LAND ROVER vehicles, and, in 1985, he opened the company’s current facilities in Lleida, in Avda. Rovira Roure, nº 68, handling the makes: FORD, LAND ROVER, JAGUAR and AIXAM.
In 1999, the current PORTOLES-BOSCH property company was created. Since then, it has carried out various property developments and is now working on several ambitious projects in different parts of Spain.
Over the years, the entrepreneurial initiative that characterises the group of companies, and especially its founder, has been recognised with countless awards. The Portolés group is currently run and managed by Mr Portolés’ two sons, Joaquín and Fernando Portolés Bosch, together with their human team.
